Our Year 4 pupils from Yoxford and Peasenhall and Middleton Primary recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Leiston Primary School, where they met award-winning authors Emma Chinnery and Esther Freud. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to their inspiring stories and learning about the creative process of bringing a story to life through words and illustrations. This experience was particularly enriching for our young writers and artists. We were thrilled to hear them read from their beautiful book, try drawing a character from Enchanted Beach, and receive a signed copy for our library. We extend our gratitude to the Leiston Education Partnership and the Leiston Book Festival for making this wonderful experience possible.

Spruce have been taking part in the RSPB Big School Birdwatch. We enjoyed making bird feeders and then observing and counting the different varieties of birds that visited the playground. In Scouts, cubs are working towards their personal safety badge. They made sculptures of dangerous places and identified why it is important not to play in these places. This followed on from this by making safety codes with an emphasis on keeping safe when exploring and adventuring. They worked collaboratively and demonstrated imagination and creativity. Well done!

In Gymnastics this week, Ash Class have been learning to balance on apparatus. They have been practising using pointed toes and straight legs, and exploring how to balance using a range of different body parts.

This week we have enjoyed working towards our Ruby Robin Award; making bird feeders using pinecones and hanging them in the trees around our school. Hopefully we will attract lots of birds to our school ready for our RSBP School Birdwatch next week.

In Cooking Club this week, children made pizzas! In Gymnastics, children learnt how to compose a sequence including balance, movement and a jump. Children worked hard to point their toes and remain composed.

Fruit printing in art to end the week in Ash. The children sculpted their own stamps using old pencils and blunt knives.

Ash Class have been learning how to find the right coins to buy items in their homemade shop! The children learned lots about money and had great fun along the way. A fantastic hands-on learning experience!

In Spruce we have had fun exploring and making circuits using different components, learning the symbols for each part, and drawing their own circuit diagrams. It was fantastic to see their curiosity, problem-solving and creativity in action as they explored how things work together.
